FAQ AIR160

Error Messages - AIR160

The software stops if there is a problem with the real time clock or with the ventilator connection. As soon as the device is switched on, the program will carry out a self-test to check the proper operation of the product. The units that are checked are the real time clock and the ventilator connection. Any problems with these items will be indicated on the display.

This message indicates that there is a problem with the BU battery. The BU battery normally has a lifespan of 10 years. In the unlikely event that this is different, this message will appear.

If you get this message please contact your local dealer to find a solution.

FAIL002 is a warning shown in the display of the unit if the unit has been switched off. The Air 160 needs to be switched on 24/7, this to make sure that it can offer the most reliable disinfection of your room.If the unit is switched off the warning message FAIL002 will appear in the display.

This warning message indicates that the room is not disinfected and may hold some unwanted micro-organisms.

Pressing the button on the display of the AIR 160 once will simply remove this warning message.

If you press the button once in the rest position, the operating hours will be displayed. The display will automatically start from the factory setting of the timer, i.e. 8,000 hours. 

The UV-C lamp operates at 100% radiation for up to 8,000 hours. After 8,000 operating hours, the UV-C radiation will weaken, and may be insufficient to obtain the desired results. If the device is switched off and then on again, the hour counter will start counting backwards from the value it had when it was switched off.

The display will indicate 0000 when the 8,000 operating hours of the lamp have expired. The actual time will blink in the display, alternating with four blinking zeros. The filter and the UV-C lamp must now be replaced. See item ‘rSt’ in your manual “How to reset the timer”.

Filter Modules

The AIR300 has two chambers, into which a filter module can be placed

Available filter modules are:

  • A module, which controls toluene and/or Formaldehyde
  • A HEPA filter module
  • A UV disinfection module, equipped with 2x a 24 watt Philips UV-C lamp

Depending on the problem, the unit can be equipped with either a single module, or a combination of any two. Changing the filter cassette is simple and will take less than 20 seconds.

To ensure the air composition is monitored, the AIR300 is equipped with a particle sensor which constantly measures the air quality. Set in Auto mode it will adjust the air speed so as to optimise air filtration.

The AIR160 Classic is based on existing air disinfection methods that are already being used to purify the air hospital operating theatres. Three successful methods have now combined into a single device that is suitable for smaller areas up to 100 m³.

These three methods are: air ionization, filtration and UV-C light disinfection. 

Purifying the air you breathe is no longer a superfluous luxury. An increasing number of micro-organisms and chemical pollutants are commonly found in the air we breathe in indoor environments, including viruses, bacteria and moulds, and these make our air less healthy to breath.

A quiet, high-performance Ventilator draws the air through a hospital-grade Air Flow Electrostatic (HAF) Filter into the Disinfection Chamber.

The Fan circulates 50 m³ of air per hour

The NIDEC fan draws the air in the room into the bottom of the unit, creating air circulation. The fan circulates 50 m³ of air per hour through the Aetaire. Depending on the size of the room, the fan can be set to 25 or 50 m³ per hour.

Dust particles and pollen are caught in a special Aetaire HAF filter

The air drawn in by the Aetaire first passes passes through the Aetaire High Air Flow (HAF) filter. This special filter contains an antimicrobial film layer that prevents the growth of various infectious substances on the filter. The antimicrobial media slows the rate at which the filter becomes clogged, thereby increasing its service life.

HAF filters use an electrostatic charge, to operate with twice the efficiency of standard washable foam filters. Consequently they attract, capture, and retain more pollutants and particles than traditional filter media.

The HAF filter keeps the Disinfection Chamber of the AIR160 cleaner, so optimised air disinfection is guaranteed. Plus, the filter’s open channel structure offers minimal airflow resistance ensuring maximum particle removal and maximum airflow. The HAF filter includes an antimicrobial agent that prevents mould growth further increasing performance.

UV-C light to kill bacteria, viruses, moulds and other micro-organisms

After passing through the filter, the air is treated with UV-C radiation. The special Philips UV-C lamp in the unit generates an ultraviolet radiation with a wavelength of 253.7 nanometres.

The UV-C light destroys viruses, bacteria, moulds and other primitive organisms. The radiation damages the DNA structure of micro-organisms and prevents their reproduction.

The special aluminium interior of the housing provides additional reflection of the UV-C radiation, thereby increasing the efficiency of the UV-C radiation up to 50%.

The large number of negative ions produced improves the resistance of the human body, and may even promote healing processes

Finally it passes the ioniser. The ionizer introduces 8.5 million negative ions per cubic centimetre into the air. Most of the dust particles in an enclosed space normally have a positive charge. Negative ions have the effect of attracting positive dust particles. By adding negative ions to the air, the positive particles in the air become heavier, which causes them to sink towards the ground. The process therefore results in cleaner, dust- and pollen-free air.

High-efficiency particulate air (HEPA), also known as high-efficiency particulate absorbing and high-efficiency particulate arrestance, is an efficiency standard of air filter.

Filters meeting the HEPA standard must satisfy certain levels of efficiency. Common standards require that a HEPA air filter must remove—from the air that passes through—at least 99.95% (European Standard) or 99.97% (ASME, U.S. DOE) of particles whose diameter is equal to 0.3 μm; with the filtration efficiency increasing for particle diameters both less than and greater than 0.3 μm.

HEPA was commercialized in the 1950s, and the original term became a registered trademark and later a generic term for highly efficient filters. HEPA filters are used in applications that require contamination control, such as the manufacturing of disk drives, medical devices, semiconductors, nuclear, food and pharmaceutical products, as well as in hospitals, homes and vehicles.

After passing through the filter, the air is exposed to the UV-C light. The special Philips UV-C lamp(s) in the Aetaire produces ultraviolet radiation at a wavelength of 253.7 nm.

This UV-C light kills bacteria, viruses, moulds and other primitive organisms. The radiation destroys the DNA structure of micro-organisms and prevents their reproduction. This method even works if the micro-organisms have become immune to other disinfection methods. Your air will be disinfected in a safe and efficient manner, and you will enjoy excellent air quality.

FAN - Circulation of air per hour

Aetaire fans draws air in the room into the unit, creating air circulation. The fan circulates m³ of air per hour through the Aetaire AIR160 and AIR300. Depending on the size of the room, the fan can be set to 20, 30 or 50, 600 or 1200 m³ per hour.
